Joe Colombo

Joe Colombo is an Italian designer who attended the Politecnico and the Brera Art Academy in Milan. In 1963, he established his own studio in Milan where he devoted himself to the designing of innovative interior and industrial products. After his premature death in 1971, his work has been carried out Ignazia Favata, a professional architect and his former assistant.

Joe Colombo has left many examples of the genius of his creativity, derived from a constant research into new technologies and a deep sensitivity in establishing a relationship between humans and the constantly evolving habitat. He defined furniture as autonomous, flexible, coordinated, convertible, and independent from the architectural contest. The work of his studio has been accredited in international museums, exhibitions and publications.
