Lower Manhattan, New York City ||
A contemporary playground, David Hotson Architects transformed an unoccupied penthouse at the summit of one of the earliest surviving skyscrapers in New York City into what is known as the spectacular Sky House. The exterior boasts an iconic steep hipped roof and enormous arched windows that distinguish it as not only a penthouse, but an ornate mansion suspended midway within the vertical landscape of Manhattan.
A winding staircase, mirrored slide, glass bridge and rock climbing wall are all integrated into the house, revolutionizing the usual methods of navigation. The Sky House is a space that delves guests into a fresh and abstract mode of being, while being surrounded with breath-taking views of the vibrant city below.
